World Book Day: A Celebration of Francis Ledwidge
Thursday 1st March at 2pm. Tickets £5pp (Includes Refreshments).
Join us for a celebration of the work and legacy of Irish War Poet and soldier Francis Ledwidge, with local poets Gerald Dawe and Wilson Burgess. Ledwidge, who was killed at the Battle of Passchendaele in 1917, was stationed at Ebrington barracks before he was sent to France 100 years ago. Known as the 'Poet of the Blackbird', on of Ledwidge's most famous works is a tribute to this close friend and executed Easter Rising leader, Thomas McDonagh.
