War-Torn Children is an exhibition of arpilleras (pronounced ar-pee-air-ahs, three-dimensional appliqued textiles from Latin America) and ad hoc memorabilia highlighting the impact of war on children and their reactions to it. It includes items that relate to current and previous wars as well as a selection of letters sent by school children to non-violent peace activist, Margaretta D’Arcy.
This initiative is a project of Conflict Textiles and INNATE (an Irish Network for Nonviolent Action Training and Education) curated by Roberta Bacic. The aim is to expose and explore the impact of war and violence in children and young people, and how they live and respond to it.
